The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company operates one of the largest railroad networks in North America, with 33,500 route miles covering 28 states and two Canadian provinces. This vast network covers the western two-thirds of the United States, stretching from major Pacific Northwest and Southern California ports to the Midwest, Southeast and Southwest, and from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada.

The company employs more than 44,500 people. Revenues are generated primarily from the transportation of coal, grain, intermodal containers and trailers, chemicals, metals and minerals, forest products, automobiles and consumer goods.

Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company uses CHAMPS CMMS at their Fueling Facilities in both Commerce, CA, and Cicero, IL. The station can refuel and reprovision multiple locomotives at a time fairly rapidly. That’s particularly important these days, as BNSF is setting records for the number of cars its trains are pulling and the revenues it is collecting.

Larry Nussbaum, who managed the CHAMPS solution for  4 ½ years says he was brought on board to develop and support the project and was responsible for the overall development of the FMP program.

CHAMPS is supporting 54 BNSF locations and over 300 users nationwide and tracks over 16,500 assets associated to approximately 11,000 PM’s and 800 job plans.   CHAMPS applications are deployed to create job plan tasks, job plans, PMs and work orders to maintain the refueling facilities and systems. Users have round the clock access to information related to equipment, work order, work assignments, PMs and scheduling data.  In addition, the users can develop reports from a complete library of custom reports that are available and indexed for easy processing.
